More Google Testing in the SERPs

Following on from my post about breadcrumbs in the serps, I again noticed another test Google is running in the serps. This time it is pulling information from Google Scholar such as “Author” and “Cited By” in the meta description. You can see it showing in the second result in the following example:

serps-testing2This was also spotted by Ray “Catfish” Comstock and Benj Arriola on their blog post PDF’s Author Metadata in Google Search Results . It certainly is an interesting time in Google with lots of tests running over the summer months!

Did you see that on google.ie ? I wasn’t able to get the same results as you when I searched for “primary position”

That’s quite interesting – I see it for the 1st time here (or, probably, I’ve never paid attention?)
And yes, you are right – there was a lot of movements inside Google this summer.
Just some issues that quickly come to my mind:

    1) New algorithm for identifying paid backlinks (including even 3-way link exchange) patented by Google this summer.
    2) Changed PR algorithm (this one is still under discussion)
    3) Changed formula of link weight distribution on pages with nofollow links
    4) I think that there is something definitely going on with pagerank updates intervals.
    5) Customizable SERPs for logged in users

There was definitely some more, but I just can’t remember them all now…

Seems that Google is working hard to improve their search engine to fight with Yahoo! + Bing from Microsoft. Great to see that I’m waiting for them to list my name there. lol! I think that’s impossible..

    Cheers,

    Hey Leo, how’s it going?
This is funny, I literally took the breadcrumb out of my drupal site earlier because it was giving me grief. And now I read that Google are starting to actively look for it in pages! Doh!

Google continuously improving their service. Since most webmasters abused the Google search engine for a long time. With this issue, most users find useless, irrelevant results presented in front of them everytime they are doing their research.

Right! google is improving their services while black hatters are also improving their techniques.
