<a href="http://www.linkedtube.com/7h0f7zMLLXQ12b6da10899adf065ad52cfac3635dc9.htm" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/www.linkedtube.com');">LinkedTube</a>

When you look at affiliate marketing more in depth, you’ll realise it’s not just a way to monetise your existing site, it is in fact a business opportunity in itself. Sometimes you’ll find offers and realise you can make more money building sites just dedicated to those offers. The offers available very from CPA (Cost Per Action) to CPS (Cost Per Sale). Online merchants/stores generally run cost per sale. Depending on the amount of products they offer a lot of online merchants offer datafeeds of their products through their affiliate programs. This allows you to build your own online store. Think about it, having your own online store, not having to deal with managing stock, processing sales, etc. and still making money? It’s a no brainer!

This is great but how do you build your affiliate store? Well I’ve found a FREE script which will allow you to do just this! It’s called Affilistore and you can find it at Affilistore.com.

So what does Affilistore do?

Affilistore allows you to pick a niche and develop a store around it. Take for example Perfumes, we could select feeds from Perfum Merchants and build it into our online store. The image below is store built using Affilistore importing feeds from Perfume Point, Cheap Smells, BeautyBay.com, SendMeScent, Jason Shankey and TheFragranceShop.

Have a laugh with online comic strip Space Avalanche!

This weeks Promo Tuesday was sent to me by a link in an email. It’s for a local talent named Eoin Ryan. Eoin is an artist, illustrator, film maker and animator. He has created some award winning films such as Demon and his latest film Uncle Bill’s Barrell. Eoin also happens to come from my hometown of Skerries and recently he has started an online comic strip at SpaceAvalanche.com.

SpaceAvalanche is updated every Monday with a new strip. Eoins humour can be quite dark but if you like that sort of thing (which I do!) you should head over to SpaceAvalanche.com now!

Below find this weeks comic strip called Marine Biology:

PrintIt.ie – the right way to treat plastic!

printitlogoThis week for Promo Tuesday I want to introduce you to a company called PrintIt.ie .  During the week I was sent a promotional pack from Ronan Keegan, Sales Manager at PrintIt.ie . As promotional packs go, this one jumped of the table at me. It had a sample of every product they produce (which is quite a lot!).

So what did they send me? They sent me a mouse mat ( great quality, sturdy and thick, not like those flimsy ones you normally get for promotional products), Plastic Rulers, Plastic Folders, tax disc wallet, business cards, bunting and calendars. A shot of the sample products is below.

Using Yahoo SiteExplorer to find “Do Follow” Links

When your link building for your site it is always better to get relevant links. Now there are many ways of finding relevant links, search engines, direcories, forums but one of the best ways is to see whoose linking to competitor websites or high profile websites in your niche.

There are two ways available to analyse competitors back links, one is the “link:” operator in Google, the other is Yahoo SiteExplorer. Now Google’s link operator will only show a handfull of a sites backlinks but SiteExplorer will show all backlinks but will only let you export 1000 of them.

Another problem we have with backlink analysis is the “no follow” tag. Not all links are valued equal and Google came up with PageRank to aid in solving this problem. PageRank is a value of authority assigned to a single webpage. An outbound link from a page will carry some of that PageRank. To allow webmasters control over their outbound links as webmasters do not always want to dilute their PageRank, Google introduced the “No Follow” tag. The “No Follow” tag informs Google not to pass any PageRank to the link, thus making the link have no benefit towards search engine rankings.

Not all Search Engines adopted the “No Follow” tag and Yahoo is one of them, so the problem with SiteExplorer is that it includes “No Follow” links and “Do Follow” links in its results. Well I’ve found a solution.

seo-link-analysisI’ve just begun using a firefox plugin called SEO Link Analysis by Yoast de Valk. SEO Link analysis adds to Siteexplorer the PageRank of the page that the links originate from, the Anchor Text used in the link, and offers colourcodes to explain if the link is a DoFollow link or No Follow link.

Below is a screenshot of SiteExplorer, before and after SEO Link Analysis has been installed:

SiteExplorer before SEO Link Analysis

SiteExplorer after SEO Link Analysis has been installed:

I hope this helps you with your competitor analysis!
