Does this slap affect organic rankings generally?...or is it just related to Adwords landing pages? Appreciate your thoughts Leo.

My site had many pages of helpful content. It went into great detail about how these products were made and tons of educational stuff for visitors. The links were cloaked with php and it got slapped 2 days after everyone else got slapped. Then I copied the same site to another url and it went back to 10/10 then today (8/4/09) the site with the new domain name got slapped. So, it no longer works just to change the url.

I believe it is because it is in a niche Google targeted.

[...] Leo created an interesting post today on Google Slap Affiliate Review Sites | Leo Fogarty .comHere’s a short outline… model… at minimum it seems necessary to avoid placing affiliate links on landing pages, but ideally, I think people need to move towards a deeper list building/relationship building strategy and/or a strong e-commerce model. … [...]

Cheers for the heads up - I've just cloaked all my links as a precautionary measure. It's a bit worrying though, a clampdown usually has many phases, I wonder how long it will be before cloaking gets a right royal bitch slap too.
